About Shaanxi History Museum 162
Shaanxi History Museum is the first large-scale modern national museum in China. It is at the deputy department level and the superior authority is the Shaanxi Provincial Cultural Relics Bureau. It is one of the first "AAAA" tourist attractions and is known as the "Pearl of the Ancient Capital and the Treasure House of China". It is located at No. 91 Xiaozhai East Road, Yanta District, Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province, northwest of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. As of August 2025, the museum has a collection of more than 1.7 million items, including 762 first-class cultural relics and 18 national treasure-level cultural relics. Two of them are among the first batch of cultural relics prohibited from overseas (border) exhibition. It ranks among the top museums in China and has been recognized as a world-class museum by UNESCO.
