About Stone City
Ancient Stone City is located in Liaowu Village, about 800 meters east of Duheng, Shixing, Guangdong, and five kilometers away from Chebaling National Nature Reserve. It is a stone settlement site built in the mid-Ming Dynasty (about 1450) and has an existing history of more than 500 years. The city was built by the Liao Hakka group who moved from Fujian. It relied on a stone defense system in the early stage, and later expanded into a settlement with three-story mud brick enclosures, covering an area of 2,600 square meters. There are existing stone foundations, streets and stone steps (originally there were 18 steps on both sides, one side was destroyed by floods), and daily utensils such as stone tables, stone benches and stone mills are preserved.
