About Former Residence of Xu Beihong
Xu Beihong's former residence is located in Qian Street, Yangshuo County, Guangxi. It is a brick-and-wood structure bungalow given to painter Xu Beihong by Li Zongren in 1936. It is now a key cultural relic protection unit in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The former residence has a three-bay layout with white walls and blue tiles, covering an area of about 400 square meters. There are existing bronze busts of Xu Beihong, a century-old magnolia tree and the seal carvings of "Yangshuo Tianmin" in the courtyard. From 1935 to 1937, Xu Beihong went to Yangshuo twice and lived there for nearly a year, where he created representative works such as "Spring Rain on the Li River". During this period, he participated in the preparation of the first Guangxi Art Exhibition and the Guilin Academy of Fine Arts, and served as the honorary president of the Guangxi Art Association.
