About Tomb of Dayu
Dayu Mausoleum, known as Yuxue in ancient times, is located at the foothills of Kuaiji Mountain outside Jishan Gate in the southeast of Yuecheng District, Shaoxing City, Zhejiang Province, 3 kilometers away from Shaoxing City. It consists of three parts: Yuling Mausoleum, Yu Temple, and Yu Temple. According to legend, it is the burial place of Dayu, the founder of the Xia Dynasty and an ancient flood control hero. He is revered as the "ancestor of the country" by later generations. The mausoleum area faces east and west. There are existing buildings regulated by the Ming and Qing Dynasties, including core ruins such as Lingxing Gate, Yongdao, and the stele pavilion of Dayu Mausoleum. During the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty, it was listed as one of the 36 royal tombs in the country. In 1996, it was rated as a national key cultural relics protection unit.
