About Ma Wensu Temple
Ma Wensugong Temple is located in Xiuzhang Street, Huishan Ancient Town, Wuxi, Jiangsu Province. It was built under the order of Emperor Shunzhi of the Qing Dynasty to commemorate Ma Shiqi, a loyal minister of the Ming Dynasty. It also enshrines Zhu and Li concubines who died with Ma Shiqi. The ancestral hall was first built in the 10th year of Shunzhi (1653) of the Qing Dynasty and renovated in the 2nd year of Qianlong (1737). The specific address of Ma Wensu Temple is No. 75 Huishanzhi Street (No. 31 Xiuzhang Street), Liangxi District, Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province, also known as Ma Zhongsu Temple. Ma Shiqi died when Li Zicheng conquered Beijing in 1644. According to his father's long-cherished wish during his lifetime, his son specially purchased the Taixu Pavilion in the Mingwang Garden as a place to park his father's harem, and later used the pavilion as a shrine.
