About Dachengmen
Dacheng Gate is an important gate in the Confucius Temple or Confucian Temple. It is located behind Panchi and in front of Dacheng Hall. It is the main entrance to the core sacrificial area. Its name "Dacheng" is taken from the evaluation of Confucius in "Mencius", "Confucius called it the greatest achievement", and it is also known as Jimen. The building regulations are relatively high, usually three or five rooms in width, with yellow glazed tile roofs, dougong and other decorations. The door has 108 door nails according to the royal palace etiquette. Some Dacheng doors have bells hung inside and drums set up for ceremonies. There are various roof forms, such as single eaves hard top, verandah roof, and triple eaves archway style. Dachengmen was founded in the Yuan Dynasty and was rebuilt in the Qing Dynasty. Some of them were damaged and then restored.
