About Wanren palace wall
Wanren Palace Wall, formerly known as Yangsheng Gate, is located at the southern end of the Ming Gucheng Scenic Area in Qufu City, Jining City, Shandong Province. It was the south gate of Qufu City in the Ming Dynasty. It is opposite to the Confucius Temple and is also the outer gate of the Confucius Temple. The name comes from "The Confucius' wall is numbering ren" written by Zigong in "The Analects of Confucius: Zizhang". It was changed to "ten thousand ren" by Hu Zuanzong in the Ming Dynasty, and was later inscribed on the forehead of the door by Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty. The damaged city wall of Qufu County was demolished in 1978. At that time, only the south gate, north gate and two city corners were partially preserved. The existing city wall was restored and built from 2002 to 2004. The gate was built in the eighth year of Zhengde in the Ming Dynasty (1513).
