About An Ding Gate
Anding Gate (the main west gate of Xi'an City Wall) is a historical architectural attraction located south of the middle of the West City Wall. Anding Gate was originally the "Shunyi Gate" at the west center gate of Chang'an Imperial City in the Sui and Tang Dynasties. It was retained when the Han Dynasty built a new city in the late Tang Dynasty. From the seventh to the eleventh year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty (1374-1378), the city of Xi'an was expanded. This gate was still used as the west gate and was renamed "Anding Gate". Today's Anding Gate contains the Wengcheng, the arrow tower, the main tower and the second door opening.
