About Loumen
Loumen is located in the northeast of Suzhou City. According to "Wu Di Ji", its original name was Qianmen. Because there was ancient Qianxian County in the Qin Dynasty, it was changed to Lou County by King Mang of Han Dynasty, and the gate was renamed Loumen. There is also a theory that it got its name from the nearby Loujiang River. In the Qing Dynasty, Loumen was a famous rice market in Suzhou, and its market was once one of the four major vegetable markets in Suzhou. The nearby Humble Administrator's Garden is located on Northeast Street in Loumen, and Prince Zhong's Mansion of the Taiping Rebellion is also located in Loumen. The Lumen of Loumen was originally divided into three levels: the outer city, the middle city, and the inner city. The water gate also had three gates, with a solid structure.
