About Baotu Spring
Baotu Spring, one of the three major scenic spots in Jinan, is located in Lixia District, Jinan City, Shandong Province. Baotu Spring was canonized as "the best spring in the world" by Emperor Qianlong. It is also the first famous spring in Jinan to be found in ancient documents. Baotu Spring, Qianfo Mountain and Daming Lake are also known as Jinan's three major scenic spots. Baotu Spring faces Quancheng Square to the east and Wulongtan to the north. It covers an area of 158 acres and ranks first among the 72 famous springs in Jinan. Baotu Spring is located in front of Luoyuan Hall in Baotu Spring Park. Baotu Spring did not have an official name at first. Because Baotu Spring was the source of ancient Luo water, "Luo" was often used to refer to Baotu Spring in history. When Zeng Gong of the Song Dynasty became the magistrate of Qizhou, he named Baotu Spring "Jianquan".
