About Heihu Spring (Black Tiger Spring)
Black Tiger Spring belongs to the Dongluo River water system and Black Tiger Spring Group, a tributary of Xiaoqing River. It is located under the cliff on the south bank of the south moat of Jiefang Pavilion, Lixia District, Jinan City, Shandong Province, on Heihuquan West Road, Jinan City. Because the spring water gushes out and hits the boulders, it makes a rough sound, which is like the roar of a tiger, hence its name. During the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty, the Black Tiger Temple was built above the Black Tiger Spring Cave, and "Zhao Gongming" was enshrined in the temple. Black Tiger Spring is a natural cave with a height of 2 meters, a depth of 3 meters and a width of 1.7 meters. The spring water mainly comes from the southeast of the cave. The cave is built of bluestone and is hidden under the rock wall.
