About ancient mosque
The ancient mosque is located at No. 48 Jiefang Road, Yingze District, Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province. According to inscriptions, it was built during the Zhenyuan period of the Tang Dynasty (785-805). It was repaired in the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties. The existing buildings are the remains of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The temple faces east from the west and has a two-yard courtyard layout, covering an area of 2121 square meters. There are 200 to 300 existing ground-level buildings. On the central axis are the mountain gate, the peace-keeping tower, the lecture hall (only the base remains now) and the worship hall. Bathing rooms, imam rooms and north and south stele pavilions are located on both sides. The temple originally had two gates, east and west, with the east gate being the main entrance.
