About Sky Pool Temple

Tianchi Temple is located on Jiaoyu Mountain in the east corner of Taiyi Palace in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province. There used to be private residences, palaces, gardens, fish ponds, etc. for princes and nobles of all dynasties, where they stayed and rested during their pilgrimages to the mountains and Buddhist temples. The scenery around the temple is quiet and charming, making it one of the historic sites in Zhongnan. The temple was called Longchi Temple in the Sui Dynasty. When Emperor Taizong of the Tang Dynasty first came to the throne, in the sixth year of Zhenguan (632), he personally ordered Du Shun, the founder of the Huayan Sect, to enter the palace. He was given the title "Emperor's Heart" and ordered to preside over the construction of Zide, Hongfu and Longchi temples. Longchi Temple was renamed Puguang Temple, and a clear boundary was erected within a 10-mile radius.
