About Tomb of King Boni
The Tomb of King Bangni is located at No. 9 Weijiu Road, Yuhuatai District, Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province. It was built during the Yongle period of the Ming Dynasty. It is the tomb of Manara Gananai, the king of the ancient Kingdom of Bangni (now Brunei Darussalam). It is also the only existing mausoleum of a foreign king in Nanjing and one of the two existing tombs of foreign emperors in China. The tomb of King Bangni faces south. It was originally composed of three parts: the tomb, the shrine, and the Shinto stone carvings. Now there are only the tomb, fifteen pieces of seven kinds of Shinto stone carvings, and several stone pillar foundations of the shrine. The Tomb of King Weni is a historical witness of the friendly exchanges between China and Brunei Darussalam and has important historical value.
