About Bamboo raft
Bamboo rafts, also known as bamboo rafts and fishing boats, are water vehicles made of bundled bamboo and are popular in the waters south of the Yangtze River in China. Its structure is made of a mixture of real bamboo and thorny bamboo. Small rafts use 5-8 bamboos, and large rafts require 11-16 bamboos. The head of the raft is tilted and the tail is flat. It has the characteristics of strong stability and high buoyancy. Traditional production includes bamboo selection, baking and bending, antisepsis, rattan binding and other processes. The Wuyi Mountain Jiuqu bamboo raft making technique was listed as a provincial intangible cultural heritage in 2019 due to more than 20 processes. Bamboo rafts have been used for water transportation since ancient times, and the "Zai Jing Tang Ji" records its shipping function.
