About Sanwei Bookstore

Sanwei Bookstore is an iconic private school in the history of modern Chinese culture. It is widely known for Lu Xun's vivid description in his essay "From Baicao Garden to Sanwei Bookstore". It is not only the epitome of traditional education in Shaoxing during the Qing Dynasty, but also carries the collision of traditional Chinese culture and modern ideological enlightenment. Sanwei Bookstore is a famous private school in Shaoxing Prefecture in the late Qing Dynasty. It was also the place where Lu Xun studied from the age of 12 to 17. It is located at No. 11, Duchangfangkou. The teacher of the private school, Shou Jingwu (later assigned to Jinghu), was an upright, simple and knowledgeable person. His personality and academic spirit left an unforgettable impression on Lu Xun. Shou Jingwu has been teaching here for 60 years.
