About Feihongqiao
Feihong Bridge is located in the Jiangnan Gongyuan ruins in Qinhuai District, Nanjing City, across the Qingshui Pond. It was built in the mid-Ming Dynasty and has a history of more than 500 years. It is the demarcation mark between the inner and outer curtain areas of the imperial examination room in the Ming Dynasty. The bridge body is made of huge stones, 15 meters long and 6 meters wide. The bridge body is engraved with the words "Feihong Bridge" and high-relief decorations of "All the Way Lianke" and "Qingyun Straight Up" symbolizing the auspiciousness of the imperial examination. Pillar foundation stones are set on the bridge deck to restrict vehicle traffic. The original bridge foundation from the Ming Dynasty and the additional decorations carved during the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty are still available.
