About Chengdu Origin
The origin of Chengdu is the geographical reference point and the origin of surveying and mapping of Chengdu, that is, the geographical center of the city and the "zero kilometer" of the city. The coordinates are 30°40′ north latitude and 104°04′ east longitude. It is located on the west side of the intersection of Wenwu Road and Luoguoxiang in Qingyang District. This sign was built in 1956. As the "zero kilometer" starting point of Chengdu's plane coordinate system, it assumes the benchmark function of urban and rural construction project measurement. After its establishment, Chengdu became the first city in the country to have unified coordinates for urban and rural surveying and mapping. The marker was originally a cement stone pier placed on the top floor of the original Chengdu Hotel, but was later changed to a buried steel nail.
