About May 4th Square
May Fourth Square is located on Donghai West Road, Shinan District, Qingdao City, Shandong Province. It is opposite the Qingdao Municipal People's Government Office Building and faces Fushan Bay in the south. It was built in 1996. It is a modern-style square integrating lawns, fountains and sculptures. It is one of the landmark buildings of Qingdao. May 4th Square is named after the May 4th Movement. It is divided into north and south areas with Donghai Road as the boundary: the north area is mainly composed of lawns between green avenues, with a fountain in the center; the south area is composed of an open-air stage, dot matrix fountains, a sea-viewing platform and the sculpture "Wind of May", etc., with a total area of 100,000 square meters; it is an important red cultural and educational base to carry forward the patriotic spirit of May 4th and inspire people to work hard.
