About ringstone
Phonolite, also known as phonolite in foreign languages and also known as phonolite and ginger stone, is a natural stone that can make sounds due to internal cavities or particle collisions. It is mainly distributed along the East Wenquan Mountain in Banan District, Chongqing and in the 3,000-meter ultra-long phonolite belt in Fengsheng Town. This stone has a dual classification system: according to its chemical composition, it can be divided into those with higher silicon content (such as agate, petrified wood) and those with higher calcium carbonate content (such as ginger stone); according to its sound characteristics, it can be divided into stone phonolite (crisp when shaken) and hydrophonolite (containing liquid and thick). The latter is extremely rare because of the difficulty in retaining liquid. Its formation is closely related to the karst landform.
