About crystal cave

A crystal cave (also known as a geode or a crystal ball) is a cavity structure formed inside a rock. The exterior is wrapped with limestone or related rock formations, and the interior is composed of quartz crystals and chalcedony deposits. The main chemical composition is SiO₂, with a Mohs hardness of 7 and a refractive index of 1.54-1.55. Its formation is related to cavities such as igneous rock bubbles and tree root cavities. Mineral-containing groundwater crystallizes under specific temperature and pressure for a long time, forming a crystal cluster or secretion structure, with the growth direction extending from the cave wall to the center. Brazil is the main producing area. The Chihuahua Naica Crystal Cave in Mexico is the world's largest gypsum crystal cave. It is located in a silver-zinc mine. The crystal is more than seven meters long and weighs 55 tons.
