About Bawangzhai

Bawangzhai is located in the Wufeng Mountain area of Yinling in the northwest of Dingyuan County, Anhui Province. Its geographical coordinates are 32°43′ north latitude and 117°22′ east longitude. It is mainly composed of Dayi Mountain, Mars Peak (280 meters above sea level), Jiuhua Peak (317.6 meters above sea level), Qingfeng Peak and Zhongwu Peak. This site is said to have been built during the conflict between Chu and Han at the end of the Qin Dynasty. After Xiang Yu Gaixia was defeated, he crossed the Huaihe River to Yinling and built a camp. The Northern Song Dynasty's "Taiping Huanyu Ji" records that there was a Xiang Yu temple in the area. An archaeological survey in 2015 confirmed that there are Han Dynasty building foundations and weapon fragments here. Its terrain is surrounded by steep walls on three sides, with only a gentle slope passage left on the south.
