About Howling Sky Dog
The Roaring Sky Dog is the mythical beast next to Erlang God in ancient Chinese mythology. It assists him in hunting and charging, and slays demons. The prototype is a white short-haired dog. It first appeared in the "Soushan Picture" painted by the Song Dynasty painter with the title "Erlang Searching the Mountain and Conquering Demons". There is a depiction of the white dog chasing monsters in the painting. There is a Shu people's account of seeing Erlang God riding a white horse in the mist and attracting several people to hunt with eagles, dogs and slingshots. In "Erlang God Suo Qitian Monkey King", it is called Dog'er. "The Complete Biography of Fox Yuan" of the Qing Dynasty records it as a roaring dog. "The Romance of the Gods", a novel about gods and demons in the Ming Dynasty, named the "Roaring Sky Dog" for the first time. It is a mythical beast and a magic weapon.
