About Ruins of Huijuyuan
The Huijuyuan ruins are located at the southern foot of Fenghuang Valley on the north bank of Laoshan Reservoir, adjacent to Shizhu Stream (also known as Shizhu Stream). It is the ruins of an ancient Buddhist temple in the Laoshan area. The temple was originally called Shizhu Temple, which was founded after the Eastern Jin Dynasty. It was renamed "Huiju Temple" after reconstruction in the twelfth year of Emperor Kaihuang's reign in the Sui Dynasty (592). According to the stele record, it was renovated in the second year of Kaihuang's reign (582) in the Sui Dynasty. It was also rebuilt during the Dade period of the Yuan Dynasty and the Chenghua period of the Ming Dynasty. During the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty, monk Hanshan was banished, and all the Buddhist scriptures and sandalwood statues of Haiyin Temple were moved here.
