About Huayang Academy

Huayang Academy is an immovable cultural relic in Jurong City, Jiangsu Province, located in Gexian Lake Park. The original site of the academy was located in the current No. 2 Middle School, which was destroyed by war during the Xianfeng period. In the fourth year of Tongzhi in the Qing Dynasty (1865), Zhou Guangdou, the county magistrate, purchased a private house in the west of the city (in today's People's Hospital of the city) and rebuilt it into an academy. In the 29th year of Guangxu's reign (1903), Jurong No. 1 Government Primary School was founded here. In 2003, it was moved to Gexian Lake Park according to the principle of "repairing the old as before". The existing building has three entrances. The first entrance is a bungalow with a hard top, with brick carvings on the back door and green and green paintings on the beams; the second and third entrances are two-story buildings.
