About Yaochi

Yaochi is the name of a pond located on Kunlun Mountain in ancient Chinese myths and legends. It is the residence of the Queen Mother of the West. Yaochi is the place in mythology where the Queen Mother of the West hosted a banquet for the immortals and held a peach party. It is also often used to refer to the beautiful pools in fairyland or palace gardens. The legend is found in "The Biography of Emperor Mu", which records that King Mu of Zhou had a banquet and sang harmony with the Queen Mother of the West in Yaochi during his tour to the west. In reality, Xinjiang Tianshan Tianchi, Qinghai Lake and other places are often regarded as the realistic prototypes of the legend of Yaochi.
