About Tongtian Cave
Tongtian Cave is located on the tiger mountainside of Jinshanling Great Wall in Hualougou Village, Bakshiying Town, Luanping County, Chengde City, Hebei Province. It is a component of the Great Wall defense system in the Ming Dynasty. The cave is composed of two small openings on the left and right that resemble the nostrils of a cow, separated by a raised mountain ridge in the middle, so it is also known as the "Nose Cave". The structure that leads diagonally to the inside and outside of the Great Wall was used by the garrison in the Ming Dynasty for military defense. The Jinshanling Great Wall where the cave is located was first built by Xu Da and continued by Qi Jiguang. It is a world cultural heritage. Together with the Wangjing Tower, Thin Donkey Ridge, Climbing Ladder and other landscapes, it forms a characteristic landscape group of the scenic spot.
