About Laoshan Yuqing Palace

Laoshan Yuqing Palace, also known as Hanhe Nunnery and Hanhe Nunnery, is located in the east of Hanhe Village, Shazikou Town, Laoshan District. Its founding date is unknown. It is said to have been built in the Tang Dynasty and rebuilt during the Zhengde Period of the Ming Dynasty (1506-1521). The temple was originally the lower courtyard (i.e. the foot temple) of Yuqing Palace (also known as Baiyun Nunnery) on the giant peak of Laoshan Mountain. After the upper nunnery was abandoned, the plaque was moved here. It is one of the "Nine Palaces, Eight Views and Seventy-two Nunneries" in Laoshan. The main hall of the palace is dedicated to the Jade Emperor, and the Sanqing Hall is built on the east side. There are more than 30 steps in front of the door. The building once had the characteristics of "green eaves, tiles, and grandeur".
