About Tibetan Army Cave

Zangjun Cave is a core cultural relic in the Xiangshan Scenic Area in Zhangjiagang City and a cultural relic protection unit in Jiangsu Province. It is located on the east side of the main peak of Xiangshan Mountain, the Tiger Back Top, and is a military facility site built in the Spring and Autumn Period. Archaeological excavations in the 1970s and 1997 found cultural relics such as geometric pottery, red pottery and primitive celadon in the cave, confirming that they were military relics of the Wu State during the Spring and Autumn Period. As one of the Eighteen Scenic Spots in Xiangshan, it, together with historical relics such as Caixiang Trail and Plum Blossom Hall, constitute the Xiangshan Historic Site Group. After the Xiangshan Scenic Area was awarded the national AAAA-level tourist attraction in 2016, the site became an important carrier for displaying regional military culture.
