About Xuelang stone
Xuelang stone is mainly produced in Dingzhou City, Quyang County, Fuping Xuelang Valley and other places in Hebei Province. It is a granite water-cut stone. It was named after Su Shi of the Song Dynasty discovered that its texture resembled snow waves when he was appointed magistrate of Dingzhou. The base of the stone is black or gray-black, with white veins on the surface, resembling a landscape scroll. According to texture characteristics, it can be divided into three categories: waterfall stone, cloud water stone and dragon rhyme stone, with reserves of about 100 million cubic meters. The stone was formed when the river valley was washed away by floods for a long time. The size of the stone varies significantly. The larger stone can reach tens of tons and is mostly used for garden landscaping; the smaller stone is suitable for viewing.
