About Zeng Gong Temple
Zeng Gong Temple is located at No. 8 Jiutiao Lane, Qinhuai District, Nanjing City. It was built in the 17th year of Guangxu's reign in the Qing Dynasty (1891). It is a special temple dedicated to Zeng Guoquan. It is now a cultural relic protection unit in Nanjing. The building complex faces south and covers an area of 5,049 square meters. There are three existing brick and wood structure halls. The entrance is an "eight"-shaped carved brick archway more than ten meters high. 48 vermilion columns are preserved in the courtyard. There are painted wood carvings such as Flying Dragon in the Sky, Xiangyun Phoenix and so on in the Hall of Enjoyment and the Sleeping Hall. The building served as the site of the Mongolian and Tibetan Committee during the National Government. During the Japanese occupation, part of the building was converted into a funeral parlor.
