About Taiping Bridge
Taiping Bridge is located in Pingqiao Township, southern County of Sichuan Province, at the southern foot of Bawangpo, on the Ziyan River. It was an important bridge from Baoning Prefecture to Shunqing Prefecture in ancient times. "Southern County Chronicle" records: "It was first built in the 10th year of Jiaqing in the Qing Dynasty (1805). It was donated by monk Zhengwen of Taiping Temple and rebuilt by monk Hualin." The bridge is named after the temple and is a double-hole stone arch bridge with a total length of 45 meters and a width of 10 meters. In the Qing Dynasty, it was located on the main transportation road from Baoningfu to Shunqingfu. In 1958, it became part of the Canpan Highway. In 1976, it was changed to a highway stone arch bridge. In 2022, the local government launched a project to convert rural cable bridges into highway bridges.
