About Jiayin Hall
Jiayintang is a Republic of China-era residence located on Zhuhang Street, Tongli Town, Wujiang District, Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province. It was built in 1922 by Liu Bingnan (the same clan as the patriotic poet Liu Yazi). The main body of the building is the "shamaoting hall" with a Ming-dynasty structure. It is named because the wooden beams at the top of the beams resemble the wings of official hats in the Ming Dynasty. The main entrance is a stone warehouse-style wall door made of water-polished blue bricks. It covers an area of one and a quarter acres and contains 32 houses with four entrances. Liu Yazi once lived and studied here. The building opened as an attraction in 1996, was listed as a cultural relic protection unit in Suzhou in 1997, and was upgraded to a provincial cultural relic protection unit in 2011.
