About Qi Great Wall Beacon Tower

The Qi Great Wall Beacon Tower is located on the northeast coast of Yujiahe Village in the West Coast New District of Qingdao. It was built during the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period. It is an integral part of the defense system at the east end of the Qi Great Wall and conveys military information through beacons. The main body is made of gray granite, covering an area of 3571 square meters and 22 meters high. It includes a square beacon tower with a width of 12 meters and a length of 12 meters, a 48-meter stone step passage and passage walls with a thickness of 0.55 meters on both sides. There are square crenels and a 3-meter-high arched doorway on the top. The crenels on the passage wall and the crenels on the top of the beacon tower form a complete fortification, and the second-floor viewing platform can be reached through the arched doorway stairs.
