About Pichaiyuan
Pichaiyuan is located in the Zhongshan Road commercial circle of Shinan District, Qingdao City. It is surrounded by Zhongshan Road, Beijing Road, Hebei Road and Tianjin Road. It was first built in 1902. During the German occupation, Jiangning Road was built in the same year ("Jiangning" is the ancient name of Nanjing and is the earliest "Nanjing Road" in Qingdao). The architectural layout is in the shape of "Bu". It is one of the earliest existing courtyard buildings in Qingdao, with traditional food and market culture as its core features. The neighborhood relied on Zhongshan Road to develop its catering industry in the 1980s. It invested 40 million yuan in renovations in 2007 and reopened in 2009, with an average daily visitor volume of 30,000.
