About Xue Nanming's old residence
Xue Nanming's old residence is located at the former site of Yongtai Silk Factory, Nanchang Street, Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province (now No. 364, Nanchang Street, Wuxi City). The silk factory was jointly founded by industrialists Xue Nanming and Zhou Shunqing in 1896. There are existing architectural remains such as cocoon warehouses and office buildings. The buildings adopt a combination of Chinese and Western styles and cover an area of about 800 square meters. They are important cultural relics that bear witness to the development of modern national industry and commerce in Wuxi. The building was listed as a cultural relic protection unit in Jiangsu Province in 2006. It has now been transformed into a small event venue through systematic renovation and integrated into the protection system of the "Open-Air Living Museum" in Qingmingqiao Historical and Cultural District.
