About Dahua Theater
Dahua Grand Theater is located at No. 67, Zhongshan South Road, Qinhuai District, Nanjing City, in the south of Xinjiekou. It was built in 1935 and opened on May 29, 1936. It has 1,768 soft seats and air-conditioning and heating equipment. It was built with funds raised by Chinese-American Situ Yingquan and designed by the famous Chinese architect Yang Tingbao. It adopts modernist structure, with a Western-style facade on the outside and a traditional Chinese palace style on the inside. Together with the World Grand Theater (later renamed Yan'an Theater), the Capital Grand Theater (later renamed Jiefang Cinema), and the Xindu Grand Theater (later renamed Victory Cinema), it is known as the four major cinemas in the capital of the Republic of China. It was once a place for dignitaries to socialize, with the highest ticket price reaching 2 yuan.
