About Huizhou Sperm Whale Theme Museum
Huizhou Sperm Whale Theme Museum is the first sperm whale theme museum and the first large-scale aquatic life specimen museum in Huizhou City. It is located in the Huizhou Fisheries Research and Promotion Center. The museum was built and opened in October 2019 to commemorate a sperm whale that stranded and died in Daya Bay, Huizhou in 2017. The exhibition hall has a total area of 3,000 square meters and a total investment of 7 million yuan. It has four exhibition halls, which mainly display posture specimens and skeletal specimens made from the sperm whale, as well as various cetacean specimens stranded in Huizhou waters. In 2021, the venue expanded a marine ecological and cultural science gallery of about 600 square meters. The museum is a popular science education base and a patriotism education base in Huizhou City. It implements a free reservation system.
