About Yifeng Garden
Yifeng Garden is a cultural relic protection unit in Jiangsu Province. It is located at No. 777 Shantang Street, Suzhou City. The original site was Puhui Temple, the shrine of Wei Zhongxiansheng during the Tianqi period of the Ming Dynasty. In the sixth year of Tianqi (1626), citizen Yan Peiwei and five other people were persecuted and killed by the eunuchs to protect Donglin Party member Zhou Shunchang. After Emperor Chongzhen ascended the throne, his remains were moved and buried here. Members of the Fushe raised funds to build the tomb and erect a monument. Zhang Pu wrote "The Tomb of Five People" (the last chapter of "Gu Wen Guan Zhi") to record the incident. To the west of the tomb is the tomb of Ge Cheng, the leader of the Ming Dynasty who organized workers’ strikes and anti-tax increases. The people respected him as the city god.
