About China Silk Industry Museum
The China Silk Industry Museum is located at No. 364 Nanchang Street, Liangxi District, Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province. It is an industrial heritage museum renovated based on the former site of Yongtai Silk Factory (founded in 1896). It was completed and opened in 2007. The museum consists of five Republic of China-style buildings, covering an area of about 16,700 square meters. It has five major exhibition areas including the Silk Kingdom and Centenary of Glory. It displays the development history of China's silk industry through scene restoration and audio-visual technology. It is now one of the first batch of provincial-level industrial heritage in Jiangsu Province and houses more than 200 cultural relics of Yongtai Silk Factory. Wuxi has been an important town in the silk industry since the Ming and Qing Dynasties.
