About Nanjing Purple Mountain Insect Museum
Nanjing Purple Mountain Insect Museum is located at No. 26, Sifangcheng West Road, Xuanwu District, Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province. It is a natural theme museum integrating insect research, ecological display and popular science education. The museum has 10 indoor exhibition areas including insect diversity, lepidoptera, and social insects, and is equipped with public welfare explanation services. The museum presents insect forms, living environments and relationships with humans through 3D printed models, immersive images and living ecological boxes. The collection covers 1,188 species of insects from 15 orders, 150 families, 847 genera, and a focus on rare species such as the Chinese tiger swallowtail butterfly. In March 2022, it was selected into the first batch of national science education bases from 2021 to 2025.
