About Xiaoxiang Pavilion
Xiaoxiang Pavilion is the residence of Lin Daiyu in the Grand View Garden in "A Dream of Red Mansions". It is located on the right side of the entrance to Grand View Garden West Road, opposite Yihong Courtyard. The original name was "Youfeng Laiyi", but it was named "Xiaoxiang Pavilion" during the wedding ceremony in Yuanchun. It was named after the allusion of Emperor Shun's two concubines of Xiaoxiang. Xiangfei bamboos and big-leaf plantains were planted throughout the courtyard. The building is surrounded by pink walls, with winding verandahs and stone corridors. The main house is composed of three cabins with "one bright and two dark" and a backyard. Clear springs are drawn from the gaps in the walls and bamboos are passed around the steps, showing the Jiangnan garden style.
