About Pearl Buck's Former Residence
Pearl Buck's former residence is located in Windmill Mountain (also known as Dengyun Mountain) in the northwest of Zhenjiang City, Jiangsu Province. It covers an area of about 400 square meters and is a two-story building with a blue brick and wood structure. It is now managed by the Zhenjiang Museum and is a provincial cultural relic protection unit. The building displays Pearl Buck's writings, manuscripts and exhibits of friendly exchanges between China and the United States. It was named "Zhenjiang Friendship Exchange Hall" on October 31, 1992. The former residence is open daily from 9:00-11:30 and 13:30-17:00, with admission closed at 16:30. Pearl Buck (1892-1973) moved to Zhenjiang with her missionary parents when she was three months old. She spent 18 years of her youth here and called Zhenjiang her "Hometown in China".
