About China Clay Figurine Museum
Wuxi Chinese Clay Figurine Museum is located at No. 18 Baoshan Street, Liangxi District, Wuxi City (in Huishan Ancient Town, the former site of Wuxi Clay Figurine Factory). It is a non-state-owned museum established in 2011 and a professional venue for displaying Huishan Clay Figurines, a national intangible cultural heritage. The museum building was designed by Japanese architect Kengo Kuma. It has multiple spaces including a preface hall, a Huishan clay figurine exhibition hall, and an exhibition hall for various schools of Chinese clay figurines. It houses nearly 5,000 works from the 13 major clay figurine producing areas across the country. It functionally integrates Chinese clay figurine resources, inherits clay figurine culture and art, expands the clay figurine industry, and is named the Jiangsu Province Social Science Popularization Demonstration Base.
