About Former site of Yongtai Silk Factory
The former site of Yongtai Silk Factory is located at No. 364 Nanchang Street, Liangxi District, Wuxi City. It was founded by Xue Nanming and Zhou Shunqing in the 22nd year of Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty (1896) on Qipu Road, Shanghai. It moved to Wuxi in 1926. As an important national silk reeling industrial enterprise in modern China, its "Golden Shuanglu" and "Yin Shuanglu" brand raw silks have won international reputation. During the Japanese invasion of China in 1937, the factory was bombed. In 1954, a public-private partnership was implemented. Xue Nanming's son, Xue Shouxuan, took over the management and implemented reforms. In 1930, Yongtai Silk Factory successfully developed my country's first multi-thread vertical reeling machine (Yongtai style vertical reeling machine).
