About Paleontological Museum of Liaoning

The Liaoning Museum of Paleontology is located in Shenyang Normal University, No. 253, Huanghe North Street, Shenbei New District, Shenyang City, Liaoning Province. It was jointly built by the Liaoning Provincial Department of Land and Resources and Shenyang Normal University in 2005. It is the largest paleontological museum in China as of 2011, covering an area of 19,000 square meters and a building area of 15,000 square meters. It was officially opened on May 21, 2011. The building's shape combines elements of geology and dinosaurs. It has 8 exhibition halls and 16 exhibition areas including the Earth and Early Life, 3-billion-year-old Liaoning Paleontology, and the Jehol Biota. It displays 35,829 collections including the world's earliest feathered dinosaur "Anchiornis Hectoria".
