About Kuizhou Ancient City
Kuizhou Ancient City, also known as Fengjie Old City, is located in Yong'an Town, Fengjie County, Chongqing. Its ruins can be traced back to the settlement of the Ba people 2,300 years ago. It is a cultural relic protection unit in Chongqing. Fengjie County has been established for more than 2,330 years and is one of the oldest counties in Chinese history. Due to the construction of the Three Gorges Project, the original ancient city of Kuizhou was blasted on January 20, 2002, and sank into the Three Gorges Reservoir on September 25, 2006. The current ancient city of Kuizhou is the relocated part and is located in Baotaping. There are existing cultural landscapes such as Yidoumen, Bazhentu Ruins, and Lotus Pond Liufang. The ancient city has experienced name changes such as Yufu County and Yong'an County in its history.
