About Former Residence of Cai Dongfan
Cai Dongfan's former residence is located at No. 1 Tianjia, Loujiawan, Jinshan Village, Suoqian Town, Xiaoshan District, Hangzhou. It was built by Cai Dongfan, a modern writer and historian, in 1926 and completed in 1928 as a brick-wood structure Jiangnan courtyard residence. The former residence covers an area of 243 square meters, with a construction area of 311 square meters. It is a two-story structure with three rooms, including a patio, hall, private school and bedrooms. It also retains desks, chairs and stools and other physical objects from his lifetime. The building was originally the residence where Cai Dongfan moved here from 1937 until his death in 1945. During this period, he mainly studied medicine with his father-in-law and practiced medicine to help the world. Later, he opened a private school to teach and educate people.
