About Chonghua Palace
The Palace of Double Glory is located in the Forbidden City in Beijing at No. 4 Jingshanqian Street, Dongcheng District, Beijing. It was built in the 18th year of Yongle in the Ming Dynasty (1420). It was originally the second of the five Qianxi palaces. It was converted into a palace in the first year of Qianlong's reign in the Qing Dynasty (1736) as the place of Zhaoxiang. It was the place where the emperor received New Year greetings, had tea banquets, met with foreign vassals, and composed poems and couplets with officials. Chonghua Palace is a courtyard with three entrances. The main hall in the front yard is Chongqing Hall, and a plaque "Leshan Hall" hangs in the middle of the hall. The main hall in the middle courtyard is Chonghua Palace, with three auxiliary halls on the left and right.
