About Ancient villages of Ming and Qing Dynasties
The Ming and Qing Ancient Village is located in Wuxi Village, Zhangxi Town. It is composed of the inner building "Zilai Tower" and the outer building "Gongci". It is a unique double-enclosed double-story building complex that spans the Ming and Qing dynasties. The inner building was built during the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty, and the outer building was built during the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty. The two buildings were separated by 60 years, forming a layout of high inside and low outside. It is a rare architectural structure of Chaoshan earth buildings. The total construction area is 2348 square meters, including 54 houses and 3 wells. The main body of the building is made of rammed yellow soil. The building complex integrates the construction techniques of the Ming and Qing dynasties and is now a cultural relic protection unit in Guangdong Province.
